Before YouTube: Live Audio Streaming Over the Internet in 2000
Around 1999–2001, live internet streaming of press conferences and concerts was still uncommon, especially outside major media organizations. NGOs like WWF were only beginning to experiment with broadcasting events online. Doing it from Brussels over telephone or ISDN lines required planning, specialized equipment, and a fair amount of troubleshooting. Working with technology that was well ahead of what became routine years later. At the time, many organizations still relied on press releases and newsletters.
I live streamed from 'The Music Village, Brussels' a full concert that featured guitarist Philip Catherine, and drummer Sebsatiaan De Krom. I have the original recording on MiniDisc.
